Shalom,
We began our day with a visit to the KKL- JNF offices where Jana spoke to us on the Honor Books. The day before we had been to Yad Vashem so we were aware of the limited pictures of the children born just before the Holocaust. Susan and Neil made a special presentation to Marcia Bercov in memory of her late husband, Ron.
After the visit to KKL-JNF Headquarters, we headed to ta site on the western slopes of Mt. Scopus, at Emek Tzurim National Park, overlooking the Old City. In 2004, archaeologists, under the auspices of Bar-Ilan University, established project for sifting the earth debris that had been removed from the Temple Mount. Here, CAARI began their work 'sifting' buckets of debris. They found pottery shards, rocks, stones, metal pieces - no coins or jewelry, but the best was found by Bernie, a piece of the water sysem from the Ottoman Empire Period.
Free time in the afternoon for shopping, visiting with friends and family or just hanging out!
In the late afternoon, the group visited the impressive Israel Museum. Neil took some on the 'Highlight Tour', others wandered through the various exhibits on their own. One of the special exhibits was 'Dress Codes - Revealing the Jewish Wardrobe'
.
Following the tour, CAARI concluded the day with the traditional Farewell Dinner at Modern Restaurant for a festive evening!
Enjoy the pictures!
