CAARI at the Biblical Zoo and Restoration of the Jerusalem Walls
Beautiful day! Today was Purim and it was festive throughout the city. We began the day at the JNF Canada Project of the restoration of the outside Old City Walls. From there we went to the Biblical Zoo which was in full swing of the holiday spirit. Even the elephants were dress for Purim. Enjoy the pictures!
Purim in Jerusalem
Purim in Jerusalem began Sunday evening and continues through Monday. While the rest of the world celebrates Purim on Saturday night - Jerusalem and other 'walled' Israeli cities celebrates this festive holiday the following day. After CAARI's tour Sunday, they returned to the hotel - some of put on costumes and attended services at the Great Synagogue. The Melgilah was read and dancing followed the service in the social hall - what a spirit! Many people, young and old, in costumes and some of us enjoyed the carnival atmosphere at Mamila Mall and Ben Yehuda Street.
